Approximately 8KW of solar panels on polemounts in the middle of the field. You can adjust them yearly for more power, but we have way more power than we need here with our current battery setup.
Our system was supporting two computers, monitors, modems, routers, etc., three Sun Frost refrigerators (two massive ones and one half size). T.V., satelite box, cell phone boosters, chargers and more. We use microwaves, toasters, blenders and live like people connected to the grid with no problem.
Power is burried underground in massive cable and goes into the salt water batteries in the power-room in the workshop beside the house. We made sure to use proper sized cable to make sure we didn't lose voltage on the way down.
When the power arrives, it goes into our battery system which is awesome! Non-toxic, salt water battery technology. These are Aquion S30s and we have 16 in total which has proven to be more than enough. Please read about them on the battery page.
We are using Outback technology for inverters and charge controllers (2 FlexMax 80s). It is wired to a Kohler 12kw generator, which is currently needing help, however, we don't need it with our setup as we have more than enough power.
